Slooh was born from a vision of uniting people through the shared experience of exploring the night sky. Our mission is to break down barriers, foster curiosity, and inspire a global community to look up, marvel at the universe, and discover our shared place within it. By combining cutting-edge technology with a passion for discovery, we are empowering educators to bring the universe to life for the next generation of scientists, explorers, and dreamers.

It has been over 20 years since Slooh launched on Christmas Day 2003,, a date symbolically aligned with the winter solstice, serving as a reminder of how the cosmos can illuminate even the darkest times. Slooh now operates telescopes in the Canary Islands, Chile, and Australia, ensuring round-the-clock access to the universe. We recently expanded into Earth Science with satellite feeds of Earth, offering tools and curriculum to study our home planet and explore career opportunities in the growing space industry. The bedrock of Slooh is our global community, which began with a faithful legion of amateur astronomers who helped refine the experience and has now grown to include over 1,000 educators and their students from kindergarten to college who are leading their school communities into space. All these years later, I remain inspired by the reaction of students seeing space for the very first time.

With the transition of Slooh to an edtech platform, it is time for an academic star and inspirational educator to lead the community. Today, I am pleased to welcome the next generation of leadership to Slooh's executive team with the addition of Dr. Emma Cain Louden as President. Emma is an astrophysicist, a writer, a STEM advocate, and a captivating speaker. She is passionate about empowering students to dream bigger and bolder. Emma’s approachable manner and impeccable credentials make her uniquely qualified to nurture students in believing they, too, can find their place in space. Emma will lead the way by sharing her relatable journey as a young woman in STEM and will be a catalyst for community engagement.

Slooh brings wonder to school at a time when it's sorely needed. I share Emma’s belief that by exploring the limitless horizon of space, children can find new possibilities within themselves. I am excited to continue working with Emma and the Slooh team to extend our capabilities, reduce barriers to entry, and connect our worldwide community in exploring space together.

On behalf of the Slooh community, I would like to warmly welcome Emma to the team.
