In honor of the spectacular Total Lunar Eclipse on 03.03.2026, Slooh is hosting a Lunar Eclipse Poetry Contest! This is a wonderful opportunity to explore science through creative writing and poetically express what you've learned about this rare celestial event.

What We're Looking For:

Poems that are thoughtful, scientifically informed, and emotionally evocative. Poets are encouraged to explore any poetic style—haiku, free verse, rhyming couplets, or experimental forms—but astronomy and science communication should shine through! The Slooh judges will be looking for creative expression, vivid imagery, and out-of-the-box thinking. Bonus points if you accompany your poem with a lunar image from the Slooh telescopes!

Prizes & Recognition:

Selected poems will be featured on Slooh's social media and Lunar Eclipse Star Party, and winners will receive Slooh merchandise. It's a fantastic way to build both science communication and creative writing skills while celebrating one of nature's most awe-inspiring phenomena.

Deadline to Submit:

Friday, February 27th at 5 pm

How to Participate:

  1. Send your poem to annapaolucci@slooh with the subject line: "The Night the Moon Blushed."

  2. That's it!

This contest is open to all! If you have any questions or would like help getting started, please reach out to anna@slooh.com.
