Slooh is pleased to announce our Summer Astronomy Camp 2023! Students can join one or all five of our weekly (Monday - Thursday) sessions as they begin to explore the Universe guided by Slooh's expert educators and using the live online telescopes. The emphasis will be on having fun while learning about space and astronomy in an engaging way - well beyond the school curriculum!
A Journey of Exploration and Discovery
Your journey of exploration and discovery will start close to home in our Solar System, then venture into the Milky Way to learn about nebulae, star clusters, and the life and death of stars before traveling beyond our galaxy into deep space to investigate the myriad of galaxy types.
We'll return home in week four for a Moon-themed week of exploration of our nearest celestial neighbor, learning about lunar features, phases, lunar exploration, and how students can forge careers in the new space industries.
Slooh Astronomy Camp culminates with "Our Strange Universe" week, where we'll encounter the weirdest and most wonderful celestial events and objects in the Universe. We'll learn about the astonishing size and distances of the known Universe, as well as some of the extraordinary celestial events that can be captured using Slooh's live telescopes - including lunar and solar eclipses, occultations, conjunctions, mysterious comets, asteroids whizzing past Earth, meteor showers, supernovae, the possibility of alien life, and much more!
Who Is It For?
Slooh's Summer Astronomy Camp is suitable for Middle and High School students, although college and enthusiastic older elementary students would also enjoy the program.
How Much Does It Cost?
Slooh's Summer Astronomy Camp is included with the student membership (either through their Slooh school account or family membership).
How Are the Live Sessions Run?
Each 1-hour Monday to Thursday live session will be held using Zoom webinars. If a student misses one, they can watch the recording.
