In honor of this spooky season being filled with so much Lunar activity, from a Total Lunar Eclipse in early September to a Supermoon in early November, Slooh is hosting a “Falling for the Moon” poster contest! This is a great chance for students to explore lunar science in a hands-on way and creatively showcase what they’ve learned.
About the Contest:
Students will complete Slooh’s Lunar Phases Quest (for their grade level), which guides them through real-time telescope observations and interactive learning about the Moon’s phases. Afterward, they’ll design and submit a poster that reflects their understanding and creativity. Please note that this Quest takes a full month to complete for students to capture images of each phase.
What We’re Looking For:
Posters that are thoughtful, informative, and visually engaging. Students are encouraged to use fun, Halloween-inspired designs—but astronomy and science communication are the real focus! The Slooh judges will be looking for not only accurate and well-informed science, but also out-of-the-box thinking and design.
Prizes & Recognition:
Selected posters will be featured on Slooh’s social media, and winners will receive Slooh merchandise and certificates. It’s a great way for students to build science communication skills and have fun with space science. There will be additional prizes for classroom or school-wide submissions.
Deadline to Submit:
October 21st, 2025
How to Participate:
Students log in to Slooh and complete the Lunar Phases Quest
Design and submit their poster via our submission form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf_LrTuKZg-ZrilddbTZ1eSFveY04-n_ShNO2cIpeMh0mY-aA/viewform?usp=header
That’s it!
This is open to all student Slooh members, and we’d love for you to take part! If you have any questions or would like help, please reach out to anna@slooh.com.
